Alexandar Georgiev shines as Avs move to 2-0 on road trip

You may have heard that the Colorado Avalanche have faced challenges with goaltending this season. With Alexandar Georgiev, Justus Annunen, and short stints from Kaapo Kahkonen and Trent Miner, it’s remarkable to note that four different goalies have already played for the Avs in just their 20th game of the season.

Fortunately, that 20th game went well, as the Avs traveled to Washington and defeated the Capitals 2-1, avenging their loss to Washington last week in Denver. As in the previous matchup, both teams started slowly, and not much happened until a crucial moment.

Pierre-Luc Dubois scored at 17:04 of the first period, giving Washington a 1-0 advantage. This aligns with the teams’ trends; the Avs have allowed the most goals in the league during the first period, while the Capitals are the highest-scoring team in that timeframe. It felt fitting for the game to head into the first intermission with Washington leading 1-0.
