QB Chambliss named GLIAC Player of the Year, Tony Annese is Coach of the Year

BIG RAPIDS, Mich. — The Ferris State football team not only finished the 2024 regular season as conference champions but also took home a pair of individual season awards.

Quarterback Trinidad Chambliss was honored as the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) Player of the Year, while Head Coach Tony Annese was recognized as the GLIAC Coach of the Year.

This marks the fifth time in six years that a player from Ferris State has received the GLIAC Player of the Year award, and it’s Annese’s fifth time earning the Coach of the Year title during his tenure with the Bulldogs.

Chambliss directed a strong Bulldog offense, accounting for a total of 33 touchdowns—19 through the air and 14 on the ground. He passed for 2,203 yards and rushed for 615 yards this season.

In addition, Chambliss was selected for the first team all-GLIAC alongside seven teammates, including tailback Kannon Katzer, offensive linemen Bryce George, Lawrence Hattar, and Jarvis Windom, defensive tackle Victor Nelson, linebacker Iosefa Saipaia, and defensive back Lento Smith.

Second-team All-GLIAC honors went to wide receiver Emari O’Brien, kicker Mitchell Middleton, defensive end Tyrone Fowler, defensive tackle Deron Irving-Bey, linebacker Jalen Jones, defensive back Justin Payoute, and cornerback Ahlston Ware. Additionally, wide receiver Cam Underwood, offensive linemen Tim Anderson and Bob Anderson, linebacker Jason Williams, and safety Gyasi Mattison received honorable mention.

Due to their 10-game winning streak, which helped them secure the GLIAC title, the Bulldogs are currently the top-ranked team in Division II as they head into the postseason, having earned a first-round bye.
