UNC Basketball: Insights on Final Injury Report for Showdown at Hawaii

The UNC basketball freshmen who missed the Tar Heels’ last outing should both be available versus the Rainbow Warriors.

On Monday afternoon, Hubert Davis, the fourth-year head coach of UNC basketball, announced to the media that first-year players Ian Jackson and James Brown returned to practice fully on Sunday. Both players missed the Tar Heels’ 107-55 home victory over American due to lower leg injuries and were previously listed as “day-to-day” by the program.

During his press conference, Davis expressed his expectation that Jackson, a five-star guard who has averaged 7.5 points in his two games so far in the main rotation, and Brown, a four-star forward who plays a more limited role, would be ready to compete when the No. 12-ranked Tar Heels (2-1, 0-0 ACC) face off against the unranked Hawaii Rainbow Warriors (4-0, 0-0 Big West) on Saturday at 12:30 a.m. (ESPN2).

Additionally, CBS Sports’ Jon Rothstein reported on Friday afternoon that Jackson is confirmed to play in the matchup.

North Carolina Tar Heels On SI has yet to verify Brown’s status. However, based on Davis’ remarks earlier this week, there’s little reason to think he’ll be sidelined again.

After the game against Hawaii, the UNC basketball team will stay in the state to prepare for the Maui Invitational. They will face the unranked Dayton Flyers (5-0, 0-0 Atlantic 10) at the Lahaina Civic Center on Monday at 11:30 p.m. ET (ESPN2).
