Breaking: Massive News as Colts Announce 3 Roster Moves

The Indianapolis Colts are still in the hunt for the AFC South title, although they currently trail the Houston Texans in the standings.

As the 2024 NFL season began, the Colts were seen as potential playoff contenders, largely due to the growth of quarterback Anthony Richardson. However, the overall offensive performance has been lackluster thus far.

Head coach Shane Steichen has switched quarterbacks multiple times this season, giving Joe Flacco a shot over Richardson due to the latter’s inconsistency.

Despite this, Richardson is slated to start in Week 12 against the Detroit Lions, who are performing at an elite level this season.

In preparation for the game, the Colts announced several roster updates:

“We have activated DE Tyquan Lewis from injured reserve and waived DE Genard Avery. Additionally, we have elevated G Atonio Mafi from the practice squad to the active roster for #DETvsIND,” the team shared on X.

The return of Lewis could significantly strengthen the defensive line, which has struggled with its pass rush this season.

Lewis was placed on injured reserve after Week 4 due to an elbow injury, but he seems prepared to make his comeback.

While he may not play his typical number of snaps right away because he’s coming off an injury, having him on the field could help mitigate Detroit’s offensive effectiveness to some degree.

Beating the Lions will be a formidable challenge, so it will be intriguing to see if the Colts can stay competitive or possibly secure an upset.
