Dodgers’ $71 Million All-Star Set to Exit L.A. for Red Sox in Free Agency
The Los Angeles Dodgers may face difficulties keeping all their key players for the 2025 season, despite winning the 2024 World Series. Teoscar Hernández, a free agent, could be one of the players who moves on to a new team.
MLB Network’s Jon Morosi has predicted that if Hernández doesn’t return to the Dodgers, he could end up with the Boston Red Sox in free agency. Morosi pointed out that Hernández has impressive career numbers at Fenway Park, saying, “If Teoscar does not go back to Dodgers Stadium for 2025, I’m going to make this bold prediction here on November 22nd. I believe he will go to the American League East.” Morosi added that if other high-profile free agents like Juan Soto sign with teams like the Yankees or Mets, there will be increased speculation about Hernández joining the Red Sox.
Hernández, who played for the Toronto Blue Jays before joining the Dodgers, has a strong history at Fenway Park, posting a .960 OPS with 14 home runs in 45 games there.
After a career-best 2024 season with the Dodgers, where he hit 33 home runs and earned his second All-Star selection, Hernández is projected by Spotrac to sign a three-year, $71 million contract. While he has expressed a desire to stay with the Dodgers, the team may choose to allocate resources to other areas.
If Hernández leaves, the Dodgers will lose a significant offensive contributor. Throughout the season, he played a crucial role, especially during stretches when stars Mookie Betts and Freddie Freeman were absent.
