Broncos Coach Sean Payton Fired Up After Win Over Raiders
Denver Broncos head coach Sean Payton was visibly excited after his team’s 29-19 victory over the Las Vegas Raiders on Sunday afternoon. Following the game, CBS cameras captured Payton pumping his fists and celebrating with linebacker Justin Strnad.
In his post-game press conference, Payton expressed his satisfaction with the team’s performance.
“I told them, the elite teams in a 17-game season will be ready for 13 or 14 of those games,” Payton said. “Even the teams that aren’t, they find ways to win. They might lose a few, but they still get it done.”
He continued, “I told the team today, this group, unlike last year, wins this game. This year’s team showed grit. We won the turnover battle again, and we were the better team today. We didn’t always play like it, but we’ll clean that up.”
With the win, Denver ended an eight-game road losing streak to the Raiders, which included four losses in both Las Vegas and Oakland.
“Credit to Vegas,” Payton said. “They came out with some fire. But they lost.”
