The Sam Houston women’s soccer team has secured a goalkeeper with Division I experience for the upcoming season, as announced by head coach Sonia Curvelo.

Katie Bahn, a former two-year starter at Austin Peay, is transferring to Sam Houston and will be eligible to compete in the fall of 2025. The Hendersonville, Tennessee native started 27 games over the last two seasons for the Governors.

“We are excited to welcome Katie to our team,” Curvelo stated. “She will be a valuable addition to our program and will enhance the depth of our goalkeeper position, strengthening our overall performance.”

In 2023, Bahn had a standout season, ranking second on Austin Peay in minutes played with 1,864, placing her 35th nationally. She made 109 saves, which ranked 12th in the country and third in the Atlantic Sun Conference.

Bahn helped lead the Governors to their highest win total (five) since 2018, and she ranked 51st nationally with an average of 5.19 saves per game. In high school, Bahn was a four-year starter at Hendersonville High School, earning all-state and all-district honors while leading her team to multiple district and regional championships.
