Dana Holgorsen has confirmed that he plans to stay on as Nebraska’s offensive coordinator through the bowl game, but his future beyond that remains uncertain. While Nebraska fans are hopeful he’ll remain with the team long-term after the strong performance against Wisconsin, Holgorsen isn’t ready to commit to anything yet.

When asked about his plans, Holgorsen responded, “That’s the plan,” but clarified that nothing has been decided for the future. He expressed a desire to focus on the present, rather than discussing long-term goals. He did mention, however, that he is enjoying his time with the Huskers, saying, “I’m happy being here right now. I love what I’m doing. I had more fun on Saturday than I’ve had in a long time. There’s an element of being a head coach for 13 years where I couldn’t enjoy it like I did on Saturday. My history is calling offensive plays, and I really enjoy it.”

The Huskers put up an impressive 44 points against Wisconsin, their highest output under Matt Rhule and the most they’ve scored against a Power 5 opponent since a 56-7 win over Northwestern in 2021.

Holgorsen has previously mentioned his dissatisfaction with a consulting role at TCU earlier this season, noting, “If I don’t have any control over it, I don’t wanna do it.” While he has more control at Nebraska, it’s possible he may seek to run his own program again in the future.

For now, both Holgorsen and Nebraska are taking a “wait and see” approach until the season ends. As Holgorsen put it, “I ain’t gonna think about it, I ain’t gonna worry about it. I’m happy here and appreciate the opportunity that coach gave me. Making the most of it, learning a lot… I’m not gonna answer the question as far as what I wanna do.”
