Just In: Cyclone Swimming & Diving Announces Ten Signees

AMES, Iowa – Head Coach Matt Leach announced ten new recruits for the 2025 class on Tuesday, bringing in swimmers hailing from Iowa, Louisiana, Illinois, Minnesota, and Italy, along with divers from Oregon and Arizona to join the Cyclones for the 2025-26 season.

Leach expressed his excitement about the talent in this signing class. “We are thrilled to announce these ten exceptional young athletes who bring a wealth of character, academic achievement, and competitive spirit. This class is brimming with talent, and we look forward to watching them develop as we strive to return to national prominence,” he said.

Meet the Signees:

Andra Robertson · Swimmer · Ames, Iowa · Ames High School
Robertson, daughter of Alison and Malcom and sister to Kristi, earned four letters and served as team captain for two years. She was the 2024 state champion in the 200 breaststroke, along with being an eight-time conference champion and ten-time regional champion across multiple events.

Leach on Robertson: “Andra is a true Cyclone at heart, and we’re excited to welcome her home! Fresh off her state championships, she has already left her mark, and we couldn’t be prouder to have her with us.”

Kendall Schindler · Swimmer · Minnetonka, Minn. · Minnetonka High School
A senior at Minnetonka High, Schindler is the daughter of Erin and Jay. Her team has been state champions and runners-up during her tenure. She was the state runner-up in both the 100 breaststroke (2024) and the 50 freestyle (2023).

Leach on Schindler: “Kendall is a legacy Cyclone with strong roots. She will bolster our sprint freestyle, relays, and breaststroke groups, which are already deep.”

Brooke Gill · Swimmer · Lafayette, La. · Ascension Episcopal School
The daughter of Leslie and Chris Gill, she is a four-time individual state champion, winning titles in the 200 IM, 100 breaststroke, and 100 backstroke.

Leach on Gill: “Brooke is on the rise! This summer she showed significant improvement and stepped up her relay performance. I can’t wait to welcome her and her family to the Cyclone team!”

Olivia Moore · Swimmer · Aurora, Ill. · Rosary High School
Moore, daughter of Leanne and William, has an impressive swimming resume, including state championships and being a three-time All-American.

Leach on Moore: “Olivia is a strong addition to our breaststroke group. Her hard work in training is commendable, and she’s determined to prove herself.”

Kendall Mallers · Swimmer · Aurora, Ill. · Rosary High School
Mallers is the daughter of Jeff and Carmen and contributed to her team’s success, helping them win state titles.

Leach on Mallers: “Kendall comes from a strong club program and will be a great addition to our butterfly group while helping to enhance our freestyle core.”

Matilde Geromin · Swimmer · Verona, Italy · Marco Polo High School
Geromin, daughter of Elisa Contarato and Vito Geromin, has competed in multiple Italian National Championships.

Leach on Geromin: “Matilde is an up-and-coming talent, particularly in breaststroke. Her short-course meter skills align perfectly with the NCAA format.”

Evelyn Mulvihill · Swimmer · Elmhurst, Ill. · Fenwick High School
The daughter of Matt and Leslie Mulvihill, both Iowa State alums, Mulvihill has been recognized as a strong swimmer and a Scholastic All-American.

Leach on Mulvihill: “Evelyn has made great strides over the summer, transitioning from a solid backstroker to a junior national qualifier in freestyle. We look forward to her development.”

Carlotta Gazzola · Swimmer · Milan, Italy · Marie Curie Milano High School
Gazzola, daughter of Elisabetta Bertoldi, brings strength in mid and distance freestyle events.

Leach on Gazzola: “Carlotta’s journey from Italy as a junior national qualifier will contribute significantly to our freestyle team.”

Jade Hazes · Diver · Hillsboro, Ore. · Century High School
Hazes is the daughter of Crystal and Adam Hazes, both former collegiate divers. She was a national finalist in 2024 and qualified for the USA National Championships.

Leach on Hazes: “We are excited to bring Jade and her family into the Cyclone fold! As a proven athlete from a diving legacy, her ambition will help us reach NCAA levels again.”

Iona Moffat · Diver · Cave Creek, Ariz. · Cactus Shadows High School
Moffat, daughter of Claire and Iain, has won state championships and holds the Arizona state record for 1-meter diving.

Leach on Moffat: “Iona strengthens our diving team as a standout in her class. We look forward to helping her grow in her diving career.”
