Jacob Trouba issues shocking statement on Chris Drury following recent trade speculation

Jacob Trouba recently made a surprising statement regarding his relationship with Rangers’ GM Chris Drury amidst renewed trade rumors. During the summer, Trouba’s name was mentioned in trade speculation as the Rangers sought to free up cap space for Igor Shesterkin. A potential trade would have sent him to the Detroit Red Wings, but Trouba exercised his 15-team no-trade clause and chose to remain in New York.

When asked about the situation, Trouba confirmed that he and Drury have not been in contact recently. “It doesn’t really matter. I’m happy to be here, focused on playing hockey,” Trouba said. “You can’t control that. I’ve learned to block it out and just focus on playing with this group.”

The 30-year-old defenseman seemed indifferent to the speculation, emphasizing that his primary focus is on the ice. “I don’t know if it’s real or not. My job is to play hockey, and that’s what I’m focused on,” Trouba added.

Though he hasn’t outright criticized Drury, Trouba’s response suggests he’s resigned to the fact that trades are part of the business. It appears that, for now, his best option is to rely on his no-trade clause again if necessary.
