The Las Vegas Raiders narrowly lost to the Kansas City Chiefs 19-17 on Friday, during a game where Maxx Crosby was often double and triple-teamed. He managed to record one sack and three tackles despite the intense focus on him. While Crosby’s relentless effort and performance against the defending Super Bowl champions didn’t secure a victory, it did earn him recognition from former Raiders coach Jon Gruden, who is now with Barstool Sports and active on social media.
Gruden highlighted Crosby’s dedication while sharing a chart that illustrated the extent of his effort amidst a challenging season for the Raiders. Crosby responded warmly to Gruden’s compliments about his “all-out effort, production, and stamina,” expressing his appreciation for one of the franchise’s most prominent coaches.
“Love you, coach,” Crosby wrote, adding, “More is required,” along with eagle and diamond emojis. Gruden coached Crosby during his rookie year and at one point even considered cutting him from the team before Crosby improved his performance.
The Raiders now hold a 2-10 record this season, positioned to secure a high draft pick in the 2025 NFL Draft, a far cry from their Super Bowl appearances under Jon Gruden. Gruden guided the team to the Super Bowl in 2003, where they lost to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, led by Brad Johnson and Derrick Brooks. Next weekend, Crosby and the Raiders will travel to face Baker Mayfield and the Buccaneers, with kickoff scheduled for 1 p.m. ET on December 8.
