Sparks Coach’s Honest Take on Caitlin Clark’s Performance
The Los Angeles Sparks secured their second win of the 2024 WNBA season on Tuesday with an 88-82 road victory over Caitlin Clark and the Indiana Fever, avenging a recent loss to Indiana. Just days prior, the Sparks had fallen to the Fever 78-73 at home.
Despite allowing Clark to score a career-high 30 points in the rematch, Los Angeles managed to secure the win. In the first meeting, the top pick of the 2024 WNBA Draft had a quiet performance, scoring just 11 points on 4-of-14 shooting, including 1-of-2 from the free-throw line. In the second game, Clark shot 7-of-16 from the field and added 13-of-15 from the free-throw line after drawing several fouls.
Sparks head coach Curt Miller acknowledged Clark’s high point total, noting, “Tonight she was able to get to the foul line a lot, which supplemented her offense, but I thought we did a pretty good job (defensively).” He added, “Obviously, the point total tonight again was bigger but you know seven made baskets tonight.”
With the win, the Sparks snapped a two-game losing streak, improving their record to 2-4 for the season. Next, they will face the Chicago Sky in the Windy City on Thursday.
