Cardinals Player Mocking Vikings’ ‘Skol’ Chant, Then Losing

Wide receiver Zach Pascal of the Arizona Cardinals isn’t a fan of the Vikings’ “Skol” chant, and his attempt to mock it may have backfired. Pascal became the latest player to taunt the Vikings’ chant before ultimately losing to them in Minnesota.

As the Cardinals appeared on the verge of winning, Pascal mimicked the “Skol” chant between plays. Shortly after, Vikings quarterback Sam Darnold led a quick eight-play, 70-yard drive, scoring a touchdown to give Minnesota a 23-22 lead with 1:13 left.

Pascal, in his seventh NFL season but first with the Cardinals, had a quiet game, finishing with no receptions. He has had a limited role this season, with only four catches for 15 yards.

Vikings fans might recall a similar incident in 2018 when Saints head coach Sean Payton mocked the chant before the infamous Minneapolis Miracle, making Pascal not the first to celebrate prematurely.

The Vikings introduced the Skol chant in 2016 when they moved into U.S. Bank Stadium, and it quickly became one of the NFL’s most iconic traditions. The fact that players and coaches are now mocking it is a sign that the chant has truly made its mark.
