Veteran reliever Aroldis Chapman is set to join the Boston Red Sox. Although the team didn’t officially announce the signing on Tuesday, multiple sources informed ESPN that Chapman is moving to Boston on a one-year deal worth $ 10.75 million, pending a physical examination. The left-hander hinted at his move by posting a picture of himself in a Red Sox cap with the caption, “Let’s go!”

Chapman, 36, made his MLB debut in 2010 as a 22-year-old fireballer, recording pitches as fast as 105.8 mph in his rookie season with the Reds. After six seasons in Cincinnati, he went on to pitch for the Chicago Cubs (2016), New York Yankees (2016-22), Kansas City Royals (2023), Texas Rangers (2023), and Pittsburgh Pirates (2024).

A seven-time All-Star and winner of the 2019 AL Rivera Reliever Award, Chapman celebrated a World Series title with the Yankees in 2016 and with the Rangers.

In his one season with the Pirates, he had a record of 5-5, a 3.79 ERA, 14 saves, and tallied 98 strikeouts over 61 2/3 innings in 68 appearances. Over his career, Chapman boasts a record of 55-45 with a 2.63 ERA across 796 games, accumulating 335 saves.
