The final weekly awards from the Big 12 have been claimed by a host of standout players, including Baylor’s Sawyer Robertson, who shared the co-offensive player honors with teammate Bryson Washington, and Texas Tech’s Tahj Brooks and Gino Garcia, who earned co-offensive and co-special teams honors, respectively. Arizona State’s Cam Skattebo and Colorado’s Travis Hunter also received co-offensive accolades, while BYU’s Talan Alfrey and TCU’s Ethan Craw were recognized for their special teams contributions. Utah’s Zemaiah Vaughn took home the defensive award.
Tahj Brooks capped off his regular season with a career-best 188 rushing yards and three touchdowns in Texas Tech’s commanding 52-15 victory over West Virginia, making him the third player in Big 12 history to surpass 1,500 rushing yards in multiple seasons. Earlier this season, Brooks became the program’s all-time leading rusher and is now one of the nation’s active leaders in career rushing yards.
Travis Hunter, who caught 10 passes for 116 yards and three touchdowns, earned his second offensive player of the week award this season. He also made history as the first player in Big 12 history to score three offensive touchdowns and record an interception in the same game. Hunter’s performance against Oklahoma State marked his seventh 100-yard receiving game of the season, extending his single-season program record.
Cam Skattebo has consistently excelled this season and was again a force on the ground during ASU’s victory over rival Arizona in the Territorial Cup. He rushed for 177 yards and three touchdowns, averaging 8.4 yards per carry. Skattebo has rushed for 175 yards or more in three games this season and has now achieved 17 touchdowns, tying for the fourth-most in program history, as the Sun Devils secured a spot in the Dr Pepper Big 12 Football Championship.
Sawyer Robertson secured his second offensive honor of the season with a stellar performance, going 23-of-31 for 310 yards and four touchdowns in Baylor’s 45-17 triumph over Kansas. This marked his third 300-yard game of the season and his fifth game without an interception, bringing his total to 26 passing touchdowns for the year, which ranks him sixth in Baylor’s single-season history.
Zemaiah Vaughn captured his first weekly award after making six tackles, recording a sack, forcing a fumble, and returning an interception 60 yards for a touchdown. His impressive performance included becoming the first Utah player to achieve a pick-six and a forced fumble in the same game since 2006.
Bryson Washington earned his third newcomer award of the season, turning in another impressive performance with 28 carries for 192 yards and two touchdowns. He made history as the first freshman in Baylor’s history to rush for 1,000 yards in a season, reaching the 100-yard mark five times in the last six games, and ranking eighth in school history with 12 rushing touchdowns.
In a key moment for BYU, Talan Alfrey returned an onside kick 58 yards for a touchdown while the Cougars were trailing 7-0 in the first quarter. This marked the third kick return for a score this season, tying the program record set in 1961, and he added a tackle in the Cougars’ 30-18 victory.
Ethan Craw played a crucial role in TCU’s win in snowy Cincinnati, with four of his five punts being downed inside the 20-yard line, three of which were inside the 10. His longest punt, a 65-yarder, was TCU’s longest in a decade, and he pinned the Bearcats at their own 3-yard line in the final minute.
Gino Garcia was perfect in Texas Tech’s victory, converting all three of his field goals and all four extra points. He concludes the regular season with 18 made field goals on 19 attempts, leading the Big 12 and ranking third nationally in field goal percentage at 94.7%. He is on track to break the Texas Tech single-season record of 93.8, set by Jonathan Garibay in 2021.
