UConn Huskies Coach Geno Auriemma Confirms When Fans Can Expect To See Azzi Fudd Back In His Team’s Starting Five

Aside from the potential for pig encounters, the UConn Huskies women’s basketball team has been sailing smoothly at the start of the 2024-25 NCAA season.

Ranked No. 2 in the nation, the Huskies have demonstrated their top-tier status by winning each of their six games by double-digit margins.

Leading the charge offensively is Paige Bueckers, who is averaging 22 points per game. This strong performance is no surprise, as Bueckers has been a standout player in college basketball for years and is projected to be the first overall pick in the 2025 WNBA Draft.

Meanwhile, UConn star Azzi Fudd has made an impact since her return from an ACL injury on November 20. However, some fans may have expected her to jump right back into the starting lineup. Instead, Fudd has been coming off the bench, averaging around 20 minutes per game in her first three appearances.

It seems likely that legendary UConn coach Geno Auriemma will move Fudd to the starting lineup soon. A recent quote from him hints that it could be soon. Emily Adams from the Hartford Courant shared on X, “Will Azzi Fudd return to the starting lineup for UConn tomorrow against Holy Cross after her performance in the Bahamas?

“‘I think that’s a good assumption,’ Auriemma replied with a wink.”

It looks like Fudd will make his return to UConn’s starting lineup in the upcoming game against Holy Cross. This couldn’t come at a better time, as it should help him ramp up for UConn’s challenging schedule in December.
