What Are the Packers’ Playoff Chances After Loss to Lions?
The Green Bay Packers’ 34-31 loss to the Detroit Lions on Thursday night dealt a significant blow to their NFC North title hopes. However, despite this setback, their playoff chances for a second consecutive season remain strong.
Currently sitting at 9-4, the Packers are still in a good position to secure a wild card spot, holding a 98% chance of making the playoffs, according to the New York Times’ playoff simulation. While the loss dropped them three games behind the Lions in the division race, Green Bay remains a game ahead of the seventh-place Washington Commanders with four games left.
With their remaining schedule featuring matchups against the Seahawks, Saints, Vikings, and Bears, the Packers’ playoff hopes are very much alive. A win over Seattle next week would push their playoff chances above 99%, while a loss would still leave them with a solid 96% chance.
Green Bay is in a much stronger position this year compared to last, when they were 6-7 at this point and still managed to make the playoffs. As they push toward a postseason berth, avoiding a late-season skid will be crucial.
