The Philadelphia Phillies are reportedly evaluating major roster changes this offseason, making it uncertain for many players to secure a spot for the 2025 season. While stars like Bryce Harper, Trea Turner, and their top pitchers are likely to remain, the team is receptive to trade offers for others.

One prominent name rumored to be available is All-Star third baseman Alec Bohm. With free agency approaching after the 2026 season, Bohm is expected to seek a seven-year, $ 142 million contract. Last season, he posted a strong .280/.332/.448 batting line, including 44 doubles.

Salk: No thanks on a Seattle Mariners trade for 3B Alec Bohm

According to Christopher Kline of FanSided, the Phillies are likely to consider offers for Alec Bohm and may trade him this winter. Kline noted, “The Phillies are interested in acquiring Alex Bregman or Willy Adames for the third base position, which suggests they might move on from Alec Bohm. Although the 28-year-old recently earned his first All-Star selection, his struggles toward the end of the season put Philadelphia in a difficult position during the playoffs. Manager Rob Thomson even had to bench Bohm briefly in the NLDS as his swing deteriorated at a crucial time.”

Trading Bohm could be a viable option if the Phillies can land a high-caliber starting pitcher and find a dependable third base replacement. However, this approach comes with considerable risk. If Philadelphia trades Bohm without obtaining a sufficient return, they could jeopardize their chances at a championship for the next few years.
