The running back was on board with the NC State football program for roughly a week and a half.
Out of the 21 verbal commitments to NC State football, only three did not finalize their pledges during this week’s early signing period. One of those three has already decommitted from the Wolfpack.
Grayson Rigdon, a running back from Columbus High School (Texas), announced his commitment to NC State football head coach Dave Doeren and his staff less than two weeks ago. However, this dual-sport standout — who was the top high school basketball scorer last season with an average of 45.1 points per game — has now reopened his recruitment, as reported by Rivals national recruiting director Adam Gorney on Friday afternoon.
The 5-foot-11, 185-pound Rigdon, a three-star prospect, has since received an offer from the Arizona Wildcats. Additionally, in the past week, the rising speedster has attracted offers from the Cal Golden Bears and Houston Cougars.
Rigdon, who initially pledged to Air Force in the spring but announced his decommitment in September, is currently ranked No. 1,393 overall, No. 105 among running backs, and No. 213 in Texas according to the 247Sports 2025 Composite rankings. He was the sole running back in this recruitment cycle committed to Doeren and his staff.
His decision to decommit from the Wolfpack has caused NC State’s 2025 football recruiting class to drop one position to No. 42 overall in the nation, according to 247Sports. However, it still ranks No. 9 among ACC schools.
