Star linebacker Amare Campbell is set to enter the transfer portal as he seeks to continue his collegiate career elsewhere. Coming off a standout sophomore season, Campbell’s departure will be a significant blow to the UNC football program’s defense.
Stepping up after Cedric Gray’s exit, Campbell proved he was more than capable of handling increased responsibilities. He concluded the season with 72 tackles, 6.5 sacks, and 22 quarterback pressures.
Given the current state of the UNC football roster, Campbell was considered one of the top five players the Tar Heels needed to retain. Now, they will need to find a replacement for their star linebacker once the new head coach is appointed.
