Latest Update: Colorado Pushed to Land Highly Rated $410,000 Star QB to Replace Shedeur Sanders

The Colorado Buffaloes will have a new starting quarterback in 2025, as Shedeur Sanders is expected to declare for the NFL draft. While Colorado has already secured five-star recruit Julian “Ju Ju” Lewis for their 2025 class, Coach Deion Sanders might also target a veteran quarterback from the college football transfer portal.

The Buffs are being linked to a promising dual-threat quarterback, and Coach Prime could opt to gradually bring Lewis along while relying on a veteran for the upcoming season.

ESPN’s Tom Luginbill suggests that Colorado should pursue Liberty Flames quarterback Kaidon Salter. Luginbill views Salter as a potential “bridge” quarterback for Lewis, similar to how Oregon used Dillon Gabriel in 2024 alongside highly regarded recruit Dante Moore.

“The Buffaloes recently signed five-star QB Julian Lewis, but he hasn’t played any college football yet, while Salter has extensive playing experience and has performed well,” Luginbill wrote on Thursday. “Colorado is also about to lose Shedeur Sanders to the NFL, along with a significant amount of talent surrounding him.”

“Salter would serve as an excellent bridge quarterback, much like Dillon Gabriel and Dante Moore at Oregon. With his accuracy, playmaking ability, and mobility, Salter would bring veteran experience and a dynamic skill set to Colorado while Lewis adjusts to the college game.”

On3.com’s Pete Nakos reported that Salter plans to visit Colorado. According to On3, Salter’s NIL value is estimated at $410,000.

In 2024, Salter threw for 1,886 yards, 15 touchdowns, and 6 interceptions, completing 56.3% of his passes at Liberty. He also rushed for 579 yards and 7 touchdowns.
