It’s clear who Georgia football is prioritizing in the transfer portal. While Kirby Smart and UGA initially pursued Georgia Tech wide receiver Eric Singleton Jr., their interest has waned due to an increase in Singleton’s NIL value that does not align with what Georgia is willing to pay.
However, that’s not a setback, as Georgia has several other wide receiver prospects in mind, including Kentucky’s Dane Key. Notably, Key seems very interested in Georgia, as he is visiting the campus, as indicated on his Instagram.

Dane Key’s recruitment has been quite eventful so far. Georgia quickly showed strong interest in him after he entered the transfer portal, to the point where On3 named them the frontrunner for his services. A recruiting analyst from Rivals also noted that Georgia was the team to beat.
However, that initial momentum shifted when Ole Miss got heavily involved and became the new favorite, according to On3. Nevertheless, Georgia remains persistent, as Key visited Athens on Tuesday, December 17.
It’s easy to see why Georgia is keen on Key, given his impressive performance at Kentucky. This past season, he recorded 47 catches for 715 yards and two touchdowns. While the number of touchdowns isn’t high, he had a notable 12 touchdowns during his freshman and sophomore years, showcasing his ability to score.
On3 currently lists Ole Miss as the favorite, but it will be intriguing to see if that changes following Key’s visit to Georgia. Regardless, Coach Smart and his team are working diligently to enhance their wide receiver unit, and it’s likely that they could secure a commitment from a transfer soon.
