Tennessee has lost its 10th player to the transfer portal, with linebacker Jalen Smith now confirming his next move. On Thursday, Smith announced that he has committed to Mississippi State and will join the Bulldogs for the upcoming season. Smith, a member of Tennessee’s 2023 recruiting class, spent two years with the Volunteers.

During his time at Tennessee, Smith primarily served as a reserve. He played in five games as a true freshman and participated in several more during the 2024 season. Over his two years with the Volunteers, he accumulated 38 total tackles and two tackles for loss.

Smith’s departure adds to a growing list of players from Tennessee entering the transfer portal, which includes Nathan Leacock (WR), Chas Nimrod (WR), Jordan Matthews (DB, transferring to Vanderbilt), Kaleb Webb (WR), Luke Shouse (TE), Khalifa Keith (RB), Vysen Lang (OL), Cameron Seldon (RB), and Ryan Damron (QB).
