BREAKING: The New York Mets are set to acquire Minnesota Twins’ star pitcher Pablo López in a blockbuster trade proposal worth $ 73 million involving four players.

López has started 32 games each year for the past three seasons, logging over 180 innings in each. His performance has yielded a 36-28 record, a 3.83 ERA, a 1.17 WHIP, and 606 strikeouts.
Following the departures of Sean Manaea, Luis Severino, and Jose Quintana to free agency, Stearns has been working on rebuilding the rotation this offseason by adding Frankie Montas, Clay Holmes, and Griffin Canning. The Mets would receive starting pitcher Pablo López, while the Twins would get outfielder Ryan Clifford, right-handed pitcher Nolan McLean, and third baseman Brett Baty. Clifford (ranked No. 4) and McLean (ranked No. 9) are both among the top 10 prospects in the Mets’ system, according to MLB.com. Although this would require giving up a substantial package, López could be a cost-effective option to pair with ace Kodai Senga for the upcoming seasons. He is scheduled to earn 21.75millionannuallyfrom2025to2027aspartofafour−year, 73.5 million contract he signed with the Twins prior to the 2024 season.
