“The Dodgers have reportedly explored deals for Chicago White Sox center fielder Luis Robert Jr. or Cubs right fielder Seiya Suzuki, according to The Athletic’s Ken Rosenthal,” Stumbaugh noted. “Suzuki has a full no-trade clause, so he can influence whether he moves to Los Angeles. He reportedly prefers not to play as a designated hitter, which he did at the end of the 2024 season (h/t Jordan Bastian), so being offered an outfield spot with the Dodgers could entice him to consider a move to California.”
This kind of addition should be viewed as a luxury trade for the Dodgers. It’s not an urgent need, but if a favorable opportunity arises, it would be hard to turn down. Suzuki has a hefty contract for the next few seasons, so a key factor in the trade could be how much of his salary the Cubs are willing to cover. If Chicago agrees to absorb about half of his contract, the Dodgers might be able to offer a pitcher like Bobby Miller in return to facilitate bringing Suzuki to Los Angeles.
