The 2024 season was a tough one for Mississippi State, finishing with a dismal 2-10 record. Their only victories were against Eastern Kentucky and UMass, with significant defeats including a double-digit loss at home to Toledo and a 33-point loss to Arkansas.

Given this performance, the Bulldogs have been actively working in the transfer portal to revamp their roster. Recently, they added former Texas Longhorn defensive lineman Jaray Bledsoe.

In 2024, Bledsoe recorded only 2 tackles, both of which occurred in a September game against UTSA. The former 4-star recruit struggled to secure a spot in Texas’s defensive line rotation, tallying just 7 tackles over three seasons in Austin.

Prior to his college career, Bledsoe was a standout at Marlin High School in Marlin, TX. According to the 247Sports Composite rankings, he was the No. 24 defensive lineman and the No. 28 player from Texas. He received offers from prominent programs like Alabama, Arkansas, and Baylor before ultimately choosing Texas.

Now, Bledsoe looks to make an impact at Mississippi State. The Bulldogs’ defense could certainly use assistance, having ranked No. 127 in total defense in 2024, allowing 35 or more points in six games, including 41 points to Toledo.

As he joins the program, Bledsoe becomes the 11th player to commit through the transfer portal, six of whom play on the defensive side. Among the most significant additions is former Florida State quarterback Luke Kromenhoek, who is expected to compete for the starting position right away.
