BREAKING: Houston Astros’ $200 Million Star Set to Join Boston Red Sox After Shocking Update

For much of free agency, it seemed likely that Houston Astros third baseman Alex Bregman would re-sign with the team. However, talks fell apart when the two sides were nearly $50 million apart. The Astros then turned their attention to acquiring Isaac Paredes to play third base and Christian Walker for first base.

With Houston out of the picture, the New York Yankees, Boston Red Sox, and Detroit Tigers are now considered the top contenders for Bregman. Both AL East teams could be viable options under certain conditions.

For the Yankees, signing Bregman would make sense if they’re willing to add another $200 million to an already expensive offseason. While the fit on the roster is ideal, the financial commitment could be a major obstacle.

On the other hand, the Red Sox would only be a logical choice if they trade first baseman Triston Casas. This would allow them to move Rafael Devers to first base, sign Bregman, and slot him in at third base.

According to MLB.com’s Mark Feinsand, neither AL East team seems to be the clear favorite for Alex Bregman. He believes the Yankees are unlikely to spend the necessary money, and the Red Sox would only be in the mix if they trade Triston Casas.

Although Feinsand doesn’t explicitly name the Tigers as the frontrunners, his doubts about the Yankees and Red Sox suggest that Detroit could be the leading contender. The Tigers are in need of an infielder, and signing Bregman to a $200 million deal would be a strong move to win back their fanbase after a disappointing season. However, Feinsand doesn’t completely rule out the AL East teams, leaving the door open for a potential stronger push from either side. Based on his comments, the Tigers appear to have the upper hand.
