Davis had a breakout season in 2024, finishing with 747 receiving yards and 3 touchdowns
One of the new Utah quarterback Devon Dampier’s favorite targets from New Mexico is also making the move to Salt Lake City.
Ryan Davis, who has one season of eligibility left, announced on Monday that he will be transferring to Utah.
Who is Ryan Davis? Davis is a 5-foot-11, 176-pound wide receiver from Roswell, Georgia. He has played the last two seasons at New Mexico after spending three years at UAB.
Under the guidance of Utah’s new offensive coordinator, Jason Beck, he had a standout season last year, recording 54 receptions for 747 yards and three touchdowns—setting career highs in all three categories. He ranked as New Mexico’s second-leading receiver for the season.
How will Ryan Davis fit into Utah’s plans? Davis is the 14th player to transfer to Utah this offseason, joining fellow wide receiver transfer Creed Whittemore, who previously played at Mississippi State.
The Utes also secured a commitment from former Tulsa wide receiver Joseph Williams, but he reportedly changed his mind and signed with Colorado instead.
Utah’s receiving corps is set for a major shakeup, as Dorian Singer, Money Parks, and Munir McClain will be finishing their eligibility, while others like Damien Alford, Mycah Pittman, and Jett Meine have entered the transfer portal.
Zacharyus Williams (who recorded 10 catches for 101 yards in 2024) and Daidren Zipperer (with eight catches for 122 yards) are Utah’s top returning wide receivers.
Davis also benefits from having played the last two seasons with Dampier, who is anticipated to be the frontrunner for Utah’s starting quarterback role.
