The holiday spirit remains high for the Nebraska Cornhuskers with the arrival of Dane Key from Kentucky, who made the move to Nebraska to join his position coach, Daikiel Shorts. Standing at 6’3″ and weighing 210 lbs, Key is a physically impressive receiver with noteworthy statistics from his time at Kentucky, especially given the team’s challenges in the SEC. This past season, he recorded 751 receiving yards on 47 receptions, a commendable feat considering the level of competition in the SEC.

Dana Holgorsen and Dylan Raiola will be eager to devise plays that exploit Dane Key’s ability to create mismatches on the outside with one-on-one coverage. The lack of a downfield threat was a major concern for Husker fans last season, and Key’s arrival will significantly address the need for more explosive plays. According to 247 Sports, he was ranked as the 4th best wide receiver and 10th overall player in the transfer portal.

Although the transfer portal opened slowly for Matt Rhule’s team, the new coaching addition has infused energy into their recruiting efforts in this area.
