They will face off against the Notre Dame Fighting Irish on January 1 at 8:45 p.m. ET. The Bulldogs will be led by backup quarterback Gunner Stockton due to Carson Beck’s recent injury diagnosis.
Beck will be out for the rest of the 2024 college football season after sustaining an elbow injury against the Texas Longhorns in the SEC Championship Game. As he rehabs following elbow surgery, Beck has made a decision about his future in college football. On Saturday, he announced his intention to enter the 2025 NFL draft, according to ESPN’s Pete Thamel.
Beck wrapped up the 2024 college football season with 28 touchdowns and 3,485 passing yards, achieving a completion rate of 64.7%. This season was his second as a full-time starter for the Bulldogs. During his first year as a starter in 2023, he recorded 24 touchdowns and 3,941 yards, boasting an impressive 72.4% completion percentage.
Beck was recruited by the Bulldogs in 2020 as a four-star prospect, ranked as the No. 9 pro-style quarterback and No. 254 overall player in the nation according to 247Sports. As for the upcoming 2025 NFL draft, Pro Football Focus indicates that among the leading quarterback prospects are Jalen Milroe, Cam Ward, Shedeur Sanders, and Quinn Ewers. Although these players have not yet officially declared for the draft, there is considerable speculation that this will be the group Beck joins.
