The Denver Nuggets have had a decent season so far, currently positioned fifth in the Western Conference with a 16-13 record. However, they haven’t quite resembled the championship contenders of recent years. While the team has faced challenges, their superstar center, Nikola Jokić, has been exceptional, arguably having the best season of his career despite being a three-time MVP. Apart from Jokić and Michael Porter Jr., who is also enjoying a standout season, the rest of the Nuggets’ lineup has struggled to contribute.

Jamal Murray and Aaron Gordon have both faced injuries this season, and the Nuggets’ bench has ranked among the least effective in the league. Consequently, the team is anticipated to be active ahead of the February 6 trade deadline in efforts to bolster their roster, with Jordan Clarkson of the Utah Jazz being one player they are reportedly interested in.

Evan Sidery from Forbes reports that the Nuggets are one of the teams in contention that have contacted the Utah Jazz regarding Jordan Clarkson. He notes that the Jazz are looking for a promising young player and/or draft picks in exchange for the veteran guard. A potential trade could involve the Nuggets sending Zeke Nnaji, Dario Šarić, and Hunter Tyson to Utah in return for Clarkson and Patty Mills. By including the young Tyson, Denver might avoid offering any draft capital in the trade.

This season, Clarkson is averaging 15.8 points, 3.4 rebounds, and 4.1 assists per game, with shooting percentages of 40.9% from the field and 33.3% from three-point range. At 32, he has established himself as one of the top sixth men in the NBA, providing valuable scoring off the bench for the Nuggets. Denver could also choose to start Clarkson and shift Christian Braun back to a bench role, giving the team another dependable scorer while preserving assets for a potential deal for another star player.
