Diego Pavia has officially announced that he will return as Vanderbilt’s quarterback for the 2025 season.
Earlier this month, he received confirmation of his eligibility for the 2025 college football season after the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Tennessee granted his motion for a preliminary injunction in his lawsuit against the NCAA. In the lawsuit, Pavia argues that the NCAA’s JUCO eligibility rules infringe on antitrust laws by restricting NIL earning potential.
On Saturday, Pavia shared on social media that he plans to utilize his eligibility to rejoin the Vanderbilt team.
Although it was generally believed that Pavia would return to the Commodores, his post on Saturday confirmed the news. It coincided with the closing of the NCAA transfer portal window, although more players are expected to enter the portal later due to College Football Playoff games.
Pavia was instrumental in making the 2024 season memorable for Vanderbilt. The team secured victories over Alabama and Auburn, finishing the regular season with 6 wins and earning their first bowl game appearance since 2018. They then triumphed over Georgia Tech in the Birmingham Bowl, marking their first postseason win since 2013.
In 2025, Vanderbilt will face the same SEC opponents as they did in the 2024 schedule.
