The Grizzlies added Ja Morant to their injury report against the OKC Thunder.

The Memphis Grizzlies’ standout player took a significant hit during the third quarter while navigating a screen set by New Orleans Pelicans center Daniel Theis in Saturday’s victory over the Pelicans. After the collision, he was seen in visible pain on the court and had to be assisted to the locker room.

Although he later returned to the bench for the rest of the fourth quarter, he was ultimately ruled out due to a shoulder injury. Following the game, Grizzlies head coach Taylor Jenkins informed the media that additional details about the injury would be available in the days ahead. Prior to their Sunday matchup against the Thunder, the Grizzlies released their injury report.

The Grizzlies reported that Morant will be sidelined for Sunday’s game due to an AC joint sprain. Currently, there is no timeline available for his return.

This will mark the 13th game the star guard has missed this season; however, Memphis has a record of 8-4 when he doesn’t play.

Oklahoma City and Memphis hold the top two records in the Western Conference this season, establishing themselves as true contenders. Last year, Oklahoma City secured the No. 1 seed and swept the Pelicans in the first round, but then fell to the Dallas Mavericks in the second round.

In contrast, Memphis faced numerous injuries last season, which prevented them from making the playoffs after crucial players like Morant, Desmond Bane, and Marcus Smart had their seasons disrupted.

This season, the Grizzlies are at the top of the NBA in scoring, with Morant leading the charge as he averages 21.2 points and 7.9 assists per game.
