Juice Vereen, a two-year talent from NC State football, will be joining the UConn Huskies for the upcoming season. The 6-foot-4, 220-pound tight end redshirted this year, participating in only two games for Dave Doeren’s 12th Wolfpack team, and will arrive in Storrs with three years of eligibility left. He announced his commitment late Tuesday night, about a month after he declared his intention to enter the transfer portal.
As a true freshman in Raleigh, the former four-star recruit from Havelock High School (N.C.) made 10 appearances, amassing 65 yards from four receptions. All of his catches occurred during the September 2023 loss to the Notre Dame Fighting Irish at Carter-Finley Stadium.
Vereen came to NC State ranked No. 364 overall and No. 19 at his position in the 247Sports 2023 Composite rankings.
The NC State football team has seen 12 players from its 2024 roster enter the transfer portal, with half of them already finding their next destinations. Three players—safety Jakolbe Baldwin and linebackers Cannon Lewis and Jayland Parker—are heading to Marshall. Edge rusher Redd Hibbler has committed to Mississippi State, while former ACC Rookie of the Year wide receiver KC Concepcion has pledged to Texas A&M.
In the meantime, head coach Dave Doeren and his staff have successfully added five players from the transfer portal.
