Dallas Stars Gain Major Advantage as Top Player Signs Two-Year Extension
The Dallas Stars received positive news yesterday with the announcement that rookie forward Oskar Bäck has signed a two-year extension, ensuring a bright future for the team amid expected changes and important decisions over the next few seasons.
General manager Jim Nill is working hard to strengthen the young core of the Stars, giving the current group a chance to prove themselves before committing long-term to younger players who will be up for new contracts after next season, such as Wyatt Johnston, Mavrik Bourque, and Nils Lundkvist—unless extensions are secured before then.
Additionally, the team will face key decisions about its unrestricted free agents after this season, including Jamie Benn, Matt Duchene, Evgenii Dadonov, Sam Steel, Colin Blackwell, and Brendan Smith. Not all of them will return, so securing Bäck on a team-friendly deal was a smart move amidst the uncertainty of the offseason.
