The former Florida State defensive ends coach has a new job in Raleigh.

North Carolina State has appointed DJ Eliot, the former defensive ends coach at Florida State, as their new defensive coordinator and linebackers coach. Eliot is a product of the Mark Stoops coaching lineage, having worked under him at Florida State from 2010 to 2012 and again at Kentucky from 2013 to 2016, where he served as the defensive coordinator and linebackers coach.

After his time at Kentucky, Eliot went on to coach at Colorado, Kansas, Temple, and with the Philadelphia Eagles.

NC State is set to face Florida State in Raleigh next season, with the specific date and time still to be determined.

Regarding Eliot’s past at Florida State, NC State noted:

“During his three-year stint at Florida State (2010-2012), the Seminoles achieved a 31-10 record and led the nation in sacks with 48 in his first year. In his second season, the team allowed just 2.35 yards per carry, which was the best in the country. His work with defensive ends in 2012, particularly with players like Werner and Cornellius Carradine, resulted in 31 tackles for loss and 24 sacks, contributing to FSU’s impressive 12-2 finish. Werner was later recognized as the ACC Defensive Player of the Year and earned All-America honors.”

Throughout his coaching career at Kentucky and Florida State, Eliot has coached eight NFL Draft selections, including three first-rounders: Bud Dupree, Josh Allen, and Bjoern Werner, as well as second-round picks Zedarius Smith, Tank Carradine, and Mario Edwards Jr.
