Former Missouri defensive back Jaren Sensabaugh has committed to NC State after entering the transfer portal. Sensabaugh was a key target for the Wolfpack last year but initially chose to commit to Vanderbilt before playing a season at Mizzou.
A former four-star recruit in the 2024 class, Sensabaugh redshirted during his time with the Tigers and has four years of eligibility remaining. Standing at 6 feet and weighing 179 pounds, the Nashville native was ranked as the No. 7 player in Tennessee and the No. 26 cornerback nationally.
His decision came within 24 hours of his official announcement to enter the transfer portal.
“Thank you Mizzou for the opportunity to compete in the SEC,” Sensabaugh posted on his X account. “After discussing with my family, we believe it’s best for me to explore other opportunities. Therefore, I am officially entering the NCAA Transfer Portal with four years of eligibility.”
Jaren is the son of Gerald Sensabaugh, a former UNC-Chapel Hill safety who played for the Dallas Cowboys and Jacksonville Jaguars in the NFL. During his recruitment in the 2024 class, Sensabaugh expressed a strong connection with cornerbacks coach Brian Mitchell, who is still part of the NC State staff.
“I’m very comfortable with him,” Sensabaugh stated regarding Mitchell. “He called me [Monday] night, and we had a great conversation. Even when he contacted me today and connected me with Coach Doeren for the offer, the conversation felt very natural.”
“He talked about taking the DBs to Dave and Buster’s to spend time together outside of football, which I really appreciate. He focuses on building relationships with his players beyond just football.”
Sensabaugh’s commitment addresses a significant need for the Wolfpack in the upcoming season and the program’s future. With Brandon Cisse transferring out, along with Devan Boykin, Bishop Fitzgerald, and Tamarcus Cooley also leaving, there will be ample opportunity for a versatile defensive back.
