Washington Commanders Sign Running Back Jeremy McNichols
The Washington Commanders have announced the signing of running back Jeremy McNichols. The details of the contract were not disclosed.
McNichols, a 5-9, 205-pound running back, is a seasoned NFL veteran with seven years of experience. He was drafted by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the fifth round (162nd overall) of the 2017 NFL Draft. Over the course of his career, he has appeared in 37 games, recording 90 carries for 364 yards and one touchdown, in addition to 40 receptions for 295 yards and a touchdown catch. McNichols has also played for San Francisco (2017), Indianapolis (2018), Jacksonville (2019), Tennessee (2020-21), and had a brief return to San Francisco in 2023 before joining the Commanders.
In 2023, McNichols participated in three games, contributing primarily on special teams for the 49ers. From 2020 to 2021, he played in 30 games for the Tennessee Titans, offering depth at running back and also contributing on special teams.
McNichols began his career with Tampa Bay, San Francisco, Indianapolis, and Jacksonville, where he spent much of his time on practice squads.
A product of Boise State, McNichols played for the Broncos from 2014 to 2016. During his college career, he appeared in 34 games, tallying 250 receptions for 2,753 yards and 22 touchdowns, along with 79 carries for 551 yards and two touchdowns. He left the program as the all-time leader in receptions and set a career-high with 93 receptions as a senior in 2018.
McNichols hails from Long Beach, California, and attended Santa Margarita Catholic High School, where he was a three-star recruit. He finished his high school career with 173 carries for 877 yards and nine touchdowns, as well as 72 receptions for 934 yards and 10 touchdowns
