Louisville Faces Setback with Transfer Portal News After Bowl Win Over Washington
The Louisville Cardinals enjoyed a successful season, finishing with a 9-4 record and a 5-3 mark in ACC play, though they were ultimately unranked in the final College Football Playoff rankings. Their season ended on a high note with a victory over the Washington Huskies in the Sun Bowl. Under head coach Jeff Brohm, the Cardinals secured a 1-1 bowl game record.
However, the Cardinals won the bowl game without their starting quarterback, Tyler Shough, who opted out after declaring for the 2025 NFL Draft. Backup Harrison Bailey stepped in admirably, completing 16-of-25 passes for 164 yards, three touchdowns, and no interceptions.
Unfortunately, just days after the victory, Bailey announced he would enter the transfer portal for the third time in his career, despite having one more year of eligibility remaining. Bailey initially joined Tennessee as a four-star recruit in the 2020 class, but after two years, he transferred to UNLV for a season. There, he threw for 318 yards, two touchdowns, and one interception.
Seeking more opportunities, Bailey moved to Louisville, but his playing time remained limited. He passed for just 278 yards and three touchdowns over his two years with the Cardinals.
Despite this setback, Louisville appears to be in good hands for the future. The team recently secured a commitment from four-star transfer quarterback Miller Moss, who is expected to take over as the starting quarterback in 2025. Last year at USC, Moss threw for 2,555 yards, 18 touchdowns, and nine interceptions, completing 233-of-362 passes.
