Arizona defensive back Marquis Groves-Killebrew has decided to transfer to Nebraska, according to excoba.com
Groves-Killebrew, originally from North Cobb High School in Georgia, was a four-star recruit in the Class of 2022. He was ranked as the 16th-best cornerback and the 125th overall player in that recruiting cycle according to the On3 Industry Ranking.
His move to Nebraska will mark his fourth school in four years of college football. He started his career at Texas A&M, then transferred to Louisville, and later to Arizona before now committing to Nebraska.
During his time at Arizona, Groves-Killebrew appeared in 10 games, recording 26 total tackles, one tackle for loss, one sack, and four passes defended.
The 2024 season was challenging for Arizona, as they finished with a 4-8 record in Brent Brennan’s first year as head coach. The Wildcats’ defense struggled, ranking 109th in scoring defense, allowing 31.8 points per game. The secondary was a significant part of these struggles, ranking 103rd in passing defense, allowing 239 passing yards per game.
Now, Groves-Killebrew joins a Nebraska team that finished 7-6 in 2023 and made their first bowl appearance since 2016. Under head coach Matt Rhule, Nebraska is aiming to climb back to the top of college football.
Rhule has been heavily using the Transfer Portal to strengthen his roster for the 2025 season. The Cornhuskers’ transfer class currently ranks 46th in the On3 College Football Team Transfer Portal Rankings, with 25 players leaving the program and 14 new transfers, not including Groves-Killebrew. More additions are expected as Rhule continues to build the roster.
Groves-Killebrew has two years of eligibility remaining after redshirting his freshman year at Texas A&M.
