The Chicago White Sox have reached an agreement with catcher Omar Narváez on a minor league contract, which includes an invitation to spring training with the major league team. The team announced the signing on Friday.
Narváez began his MLB career with the White Sox in 2016, playing 221 games and hitting .274 with 12 home runs and 54 RBIs. He was traded to Seattle in November 2018 in exchange for right-handed pitcher Alex Colomé.
Now 33, Narváez had a tough season in 2024, posting a career-low .154 batting average in 28 games with the New York Mets before being released in June. He later signed with the Houston Astros but did not play in any games for them.
Over his career, Narváez has a .251 batting average, 53 home runs, and 203 RBIs in 677 games. He also spent three seasons with the Milwaukee Brewers, earning an All-Star selection in 2021.
