Iowa has its kicker in the 2025 class.
Iowa has secured a five-star kicker for the 2025 recruiting class, as Caden Buhr from Bettendorf announced his commitment to the Hawkeyes on Sunday.
Buhr holds the rank of the No. 25 kicker in the 2025 class according to Kohl’s Kicking. During his senior season, he successfully converted 6 of 11 field goal attempts, including a notable 57-yarder. He also recorded 28 touchbacks out of 31 kickoff attempts for the Bulldogs this year.
Additionally, Buhr averaged over 40 yards per punt at Bettendorf. He is the sole kicker commitment for Iowa in this class, following the earlier commitment of five-star kicker Scott Starzyk, who was ranked as the top kicker in the 2025 class but ultimately decided to switch to Arkansas.
The Impact: Iowa will have Drew Stevens for the 2025 season, but the Hawkeyes are looking to secure a high school kicker who has the potential to develop. While Buhr may not be in line to step up as Starzyk was, he could enter the competition in his second or third year, as he has demonstrated a powerful kick but needs to work on his accuracy. Additionally, Iowa plans to explore the transfer portal to find an experienced kicker to back up Stevens next season. Buhr also showcased significant potential on kickoffs, which could allow him to make an earlier impact in his career.
