Texas QB Arch Manning Honors NFL-Bound Teammates with Heartfelt Tribute
Though Texas quarterback Arch Manning has kept a low profile in the media during his first two seasons at the university, he handled his latest media opportunity with poise and maturity. Following Texas’ 28-14 loss to Ohio State in the Cotton Bowl, the focus was primarily on whether starting quarterback Quinn Ewers was playing his final college game and what the team’s expectations would be for the following season.
However, Arch Manning, a redshirt freshman and the likely future leader of the Texas offense, wasn’t looking ahead. Instead, he focused on the seniors, many of whom had just played their last game for the Longhorns.
“It’s probably not the time to start thinking about next year because I have so much respect for these seniors,” Manning shared after the game, according to the Austin-American Statesman. “I’ve learned so much from them. They’re great people, and I’m really going to miss them.”
Manning went on to express his appreciation for specific teammates, acknowledging the impact they had on him and the team.
“Jake [Majors] is always a straight-shooter,” Manning said of the starting center. “He’ll tell you not always what you want to hear, but what you need to hear. And he’s a friend for life. I’m so blessed that he’s part of my life.”
He also praised Quinn Ewers, noting how much he learned from his fellow quarterback over the past two seasons.
Despite being a high-profile recruit with a legendary last name, Manning demonstrated maturity beyond his years. Though he hasn’t had many media interactions and has only seen limited action in college games, he handled the moment like a seasoned veteran.
This bodes well for the future as Manning prepares to step into the starting quarterback role next season. If all goes as expected, he will do so with Ewers moving on to the NFL.
