The Texas A&M Aggies are set to add a transfer tight end from their rival Texas Longhorns. The Aggies have been active in the NCAA transfer portal, bringing in new talent while also losing some players to other schools.
According to Pete Nakos of On3 Sports, Texas A&M is expected to secure tight end Amari Niblack from Texas.
Niblack could be a significant addition for the Aggies. Although he has shown potential, he has struggled to consistently showcase his abilities on the field. During the 2024 season with Texas, he played a limited role, catching just five passes for 33 yards. A move to Texas A&M could offer him more opportunities for consistent playing time.
Over his three-year college career with Texas and Alabama, Niblack has accumulated 26 receptions for 375 yards and five touchdowns. Standing 6-foot-4 and weighing 245 pounds, he has the ideal size and athleticism for a tight end. With the right system and role, he could break out and become a standout player.
Niblack was a highly regarded recruit in the 2022 class, ranked as a four-star prospect and the No. 4 athlete and No. 99 overall player in the nation. Although his college career has not unfolded as expected so far, there is still time for him to realize his potential, possibly at Texas A&M.
It appears the Aggies have found themselves a new tight end, and fans will be hopeful that Niblack can become an impactful player for the 2025 season.
