Aaron Glenn Calls Jets ‘Home,’ Delivers Bold Message to Fans: ‘Expect a Winning Team’

Aaron Glenn is already sparking excitement among Jets fans.

The newly appointed head coach of the New York Jets, Glenn made a statement on Wednesday following his hiring announcement. Having served as the Detroit Lions’ defensive coordinator since 2021, Glenn was a sought-after head coaching candidate, with the New Orleans Saints among the teams expressing interest.

Fortunately for the Jets, Glenn reportedly saw the Jets’ job as his top choice, which could be linked to his history with the team. In his first remarks as head coach, Glenn reinforced that New York was indeed his preferred destination.

“This place is special for me,” Glenn shared, according to ESPN’s Rich Cimini. “From the time I was drafted and practiced on Long Island, to the time I came back as a scout in New Jersey, this organization has always felt like home. I’m thankful to Mr. Johnson for this opportunity. To our players, prepare to be coached with everything we have. That is our responsibility. I ask that we share the same vision and that’s working towards winning a championship. To our fans, simply put, expect a winning team that you will be proud of.”

One of Glenn’s first tasks as head coach will be to appoint coordinators for both the offense and defense. There’s speculation that former San Francisco 49ers head coach Steve Wilks could join the Jets as defensive coordinator.

Though Glenn has a big challenge ahead of him, given the Jets haven’t made the playoffs since 2010, he appears to have the full backing of the fanbase as he looks to turn the team around.

Jets legend and Super Bowl MVP Joe Namath expressed his excitement for the hire on social media, and former head coach Bill Parcells also praised Glenn on Wednesday.

Now the question is, will this hiring help convince Aaron Rodgers to join the Jets? Time will tell.
