MAJOR BLOW: Penn State Confirm Disheartening News as Wide Receiver Commits to Huskies, Fills Noticeable Void

Penn State wide receiver Omari Evans has committed to the University of Washington, filling a key gap in the Huskies’ receiving corps. This move follows the graduation of Giles Jackson and Jeremiah Hunter, along with the disappointing transfer of Texas’ Johntay Cook. Evans, who stands 6 feet tall and weighs 190 pounds, made his commitment on Wednesday night, as first reported by On3.

Evans, a Texas native, had the opportunity to play against Washington in November during Penn State’s 35-6 victory at Beaver Stadium, although he did not register any catches in that game. Over the past season, Evans recorded 21 receptions for 415 yards and 5 touchdowns. One of his standout moments was a 38-yard touchdown catch against Boise State in the Fiesta Bowl, helping Penn State take a 13-0 lead in a 31-14 win.

Evans likely entered the transfer portal seeking a larger role than he had at Penn State, where he appeared in 38 games but started only six. His career totals include 30 receptions for 564 yards and 7 touchdowns. The Huskies are in need of depth at wide receiver, having lost Jackson and Hunter, and with the transfer of Keith Reynolds to Miami of Ohio and Jason Robinson Jr. to North Carolina.

Evans is the 14th player to join the Huskies through the transfer portal, and the fourth new offensive addition. He joins returning sophomores Rashid Williams and Audric Harris, along with five incoming freshman receivers, as the team continues to rebuild its receiving unit.
