Former Notre Dame offensive lineman Sam Pendleton has announced his commitment to the Tennessee Volunteers.

Former Notre Dame offensive lineman Sam Pendleton has confirmed his commitment to the Tennessee Volunteers.

As the Tennessee Volunteers begin to make strategic moves in the transfer portal, they have secured a noteworthy addition. Sam Pendleton, who previously played as a starting left guard for Notre Dame at the start of the 2024 season, has announced his decision to join Tennessee.

Pendleton started the first seven games of the 2024 season but lost his starting position in October when Billy Schrauth returned from injury. This change led to Rocco Splinder taking over at left guard, positioning Pendleton as a backup interior lineman for the 2025 season without a starting role.

Tennessee has been actively pursuing options to strengthen its left guard position through the transfer portal this offseason but has faced challenges in securing their preferred candidates. Notably, Northwestern guard Josh Thompson visited Tennessee before choosing LSU, and USC guard Emmanuel Pregnon also evaluated Tennessee before committing to Oregon.

As the 2025 offseason approaches, uncertainty surrounds the left guard position for Tennessee, presenting Pendleton with the opportunity to become a significant contributor to the team’s offensive line.
