Xavier Watts, the safety and team captain for Notre Dame, wraps up his college journey with impressive stats: 189 total tackles, 16 passes defended, 1.5 sacks, two forced fumbles, and 13 interceptions. He took to social media to express his gratitude to God, family, friends, and Fighting Irish fans for being part of his journey.
“I aspire for my time in the Irish uniform to carry on the legacy of those who preceded me. I appreciate the fans for welcoming me into the Notre Dame Family, and I vow to keep working hard to make all of you proud. I’m looking forward to what God has in store as I prepare for the 2025 NFL Draft.”
Watts pledged his commitment to Notre Dame as a four-star recruit in the 2020 class, earning a ranking of No. 384 in 247Sports’ composite rankings. He opted for the Irish despite receiving offers from schools like Michigan, Iowa, Iowa State, Kansas, Kansas State, and others.
Measuring 6 feet tall and weighing 203 pounds, the safety played as a wide receiver in high school before transitioning to his current position upon joining Notre Dame.
In Matt Miller’s NFL draft player rankings on ESPN, Watts is positioned as the No. 3 safety, trailing only Georgia’s Malaki Starks and South Carolina’s Nick Emmanwori.
