Green Bay Packers fans definitely keep an eye on their competitors year-round, particularly as the NFC North has become one of the top divisions in football. It’s impressive that last season featured three teams with 11 or more wins.
Fans remain attentive even when head coaches from former rival teams step down.
“No Energy For Work” Packers Fans Rip Former Rival HC After Retirement Announcement (Report)
As noted earlier by our own Robin Adams:
Although McCarthy is still aiming for a head coaching position in New Orleans, his defensive coordinator from 2024 has made the decision to retire.
Mike Zimmer tells me that he will not be returning to the #Cowboys as a member of Brian Schottenheimer’s coaching staff and will likely retire from coaching in the NFL.

After Dan Quinn departed from the Cowboys following the 2023 season to take on the role of head coach for the Washington Commanders, McCarthy reached out to his former NFC North rival, ex-Minnesota Vikings head coach Mike Zimmer, to fill the void.
Zimmer served as the defensive coordinator for Dallas in 2024, marking his second time with the organization. He was previously part of their coaching staff from 1994 to 2006.
In 2007, Zimmer took on the role of defensive coordinator for the Atlanta Falcons and later held the same position with the Cincinnati Bengals from 2008 to 2013.
However, Packers fans primarily remember him for his time as head coach of the Vikings from 2014 to 2021. During his tenure, Green Bay and Minnesota faced off in many competitive games, with the Packers holding a narrow 8-7-1 advantage in that span.
Of course, fans were sharp to react to this news:
