‘Things to cheer the fans’- Hurricanes might not be done making trades this season

The Carolina Hurricanes may not be finished making trades this season, despite their recent big move to acquire Mikko Rantanen from Colorado, along with winger Taylor Hall, who adds further strength to their forward lineup.

However, this trade has left a gap at the center position after sending Jack Drury to the Avalanche. Though Drury wasn’t the focus of the deal, he’s been a reliable bottom-six center for the Hurricanes, and his departure may prompt the team to seek a replacement.

Interestingly, TSN’s Chris Johnston doesn’t expect Carolina to pursue a goaltending upgrade, despite their earlier interest in improving that position. The Hurricanes are currently relying on Pyotr Kochetkov and Frederik Andersen—both capable but not star-level netminders.

With less than $500K in cap space leading up to the NHL Trade Deadline, any trade would require a dollar-for-dollar swap. This cap situation might complicate moves, but the Hurricanes could still get creative if they identify a player who fits their needs.
